How did I feel with only $5 a day?
I was not complaining at all throughout the day. Even though $5 seem really little , i feel that it was sufficient for me to last a day.
Usually I only eat 2 meals a day (Brunch and Dinner) so $5 a day is not an issue for me.
On daily basis, I would eat mixed veg. rice that has a meat and a vegetable, which cost only about $2+ each for both meals. Hence, I would still be able to save a few cents.
This activity makes understand what the poverty goes through as they have only have $5 a day to survive on. This activity makes me treasure what I have now. It makes me think that I should not take food/money for granted as I am very fortunate to have my 3 meals each and everyday.
If you only have $5 a day and have to eat 3 meals, I suggest getting a chicken pau or maybe eat two eggs for breakfast. (slightly less than $1)
For lunch, you can eat fried bee hoon with a meat which are usually cheap and fulling. (about $2)
For dinner, you can eat mix veg rice with a meat and veg that cost about $2.20
There you go! 3 savoury meals with only $5
Some advice:
- Eat breakfast at home to save cost
- Make your own bread sandwich
- Eat at hawker center instead of aircon food courts
- If possible, make your own packed meals and bring it to work :)
- Drink more water (water makes you full)
- If you are hungry at any point in time, but doesnt want to spent alot on an actual proper meal, Go for a light, cheap snack
- You can eat biscuits. Biscuits are cheap and healthy
THAT'S IT FOR THIS POST. LET ME KNOW IF YOU DID SURVIVE YOUR $5 CHALLENGE. :>
